Setting up your feet – finding your foundation.

Posted Jan 25, 2010 in Blog

When stepping on your board you want to start by setting up your feet.  Your feet are your foundation on the board.  Take a moment to find that foundation before you start paddling.

1. Place your feet hip distance apart.

2. Root your feet into the board. All four corners of the feet should be touching.  Find equal balance through both feet.

3. Soften through your knees.

4. Draw your belly button in and up, finding your core.  Your core is your “powerhouse” when stand up paddling.  Keep your core engaged as you get tall through the crown of your head.

5. Relax your shoulders.

Now you are ready to paddle with balance and ease.  Take a few minutes everytime you step on your board to find your foundation.

Happy Birthday! You are my foundation! Besides my feet are something we like to laugh about.
